TITLE: InkWell Volunteer
REPORTS TO: Development Associate
Among its pro-social programs offered to youth, CYS oversees InkWell, which facilitates writing with at-risk youth in order to promote healing and positive feedback.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be able to pass background checks for Community Youth Services
- Must be flexible, patient, non-judgmental, supportive, respectful
- Must have a sense of teamwork, and good communication skills.
- Must possess awareness and sensitivity towards different cultural backgrounds,
- Must understand the importance of boundaries and agree to abide by the CYS code of confidentiality.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Trained in the Inkwell program through use of “Writing With At-Risk Youth” by Richard Gold.
- Meets with youth either individually or in groups to hold writing workshops on regular schedule.
REQUIREMENTS
- Time w/ youth Flexible, can be worked around individual schedules
- Time w/ other Inkwell volunteers, quarterly meetings
- Time for training twice a year, travel to training (in Seattle)
- Time commitment – must be prepared to commit to a year
- Time commitment is about two hours a week, or as arranged with Development Associate.
