Rosie’s Place Engagement Center/Overnight Shelter

Rosie’s Place Engagement Center

Are you between the ages of 12-24 and looking for a safe place to be? Rosie’s Place is open for you to come get food, grab hygiene supplies, or talk with youth advocates. What is important for you, is important to us, and we are here with as few barriers as possible to help you access all the services you need. We expect that you will not engage in violence (including threats) on property, will not use drugs and alcohol on premises and will not bring firearms or projectiles on property.

Services Offered

We can provide you with nutritious food and to-go snacks, help you sign up for shower times, get you clean, warm clothing from our clothing closet, including access to laundry services, and hygiene supplies. We can help with crisis intervention when you’re having a hard time, offer safe shelter, and render first aid and supplies. We arrange drug/alcohol treatment referrals, assist with job search and goal setting, refer to legal support and advocacy, other community referrals…and more! We follow your lead and Case Managers are on-site to support you in reaching any and all of your goals.

Our Outreach Teams are available for off-site appointments and we continue to build recreational, educational, and developmentally appropriate activities throughout the week (subject to COVID restrictions).

Rosie’s Overnight Young Adult Shelter (YAS)

If you are between the ages of 18-24 and needing overnight shelter whether temporary or more long term, you are welcome at Rosie’s Shelter. It is our intention that the safe shelter be as low-barrier as possible in order to provide as accessible a program as possible for you when you need a warm, dry, and safe place to sleep at night. To qualify for overnight shelter, all you need is to pass a level two sex offender database check & any form of photo identification that has your name and birthdate. This does not need to be a state issued photo ID, it can be a copy of medical, school, DOC, records that provide a birthdate. If you do not have any of the above documents, Overnight Shelter or Rosie’s Place staff can assist you accessing your personal records.

Open 7 days a week 9:00 p.m. – 8:30 a.m. (COVID Schedule subject to change)

How does it work? The shelter is open every night of the year starting at 9 p.m. and closing at 8:30 a.m. the next morning. You can sign up for the Overnight Shelter during Rosie’s Place Engagement Center hours (above). If that is not possible, folks can walk-up to shelter at 9pm, depending on capacity.

There are typically 18 available beds for YAS participants, and 2 crisis beds. Shelter beds are assigned based on vulnerability, yet Overnight staff do their best to accommodate all young people who need a place to sleep. More beds become available in code blue and cold weather.
