Street Outreach

Street Outreach is often the first point of contact for many youth in need of additional support and resources. We make direct contact with youth on the streets of downtown Olympia and provide them with emergency supplies, crisis intervention, and information about local resources. The primary goal of Street Outreach is engagement. Once we’ve established rapport with youth on the streets, we assist them in connecting to resources, including case managers in our Rosie’s Place drop-in center that can help them achieve long term goals. We also make referrals to emergency shelters including our Young Adult Shelter program.

In addition to providing services to youth on the streets, outreach workers extend into public schools, libraries, local businesses, college campuses, DSHS, public parks, bus stations, and other youth focused groups. Outreach workers will often be found tabling at community events, informing others about the work that we do, and educating the community about the needs of youth on the streets.
